Court Updates 2017-11-07T07:23:31+00:00

                Please donate what you can

This Saturday we will be celebrating Veterans’ Day. This is a day that we remember that work, sacrifice and patriotism of each and every veteran that served in our military. With this in mind, we will be hosting a guest speaker, Admiral Jim Hart, from Honor Flight. This is an organization that take veterans from World War II and gives them an opportunity of a lifetime visiting Washington DC and the memorial site as remembrance of their sacrifices. It completes the circle in so many ways for these veterans. Help us provide an opportunity for these veterans by supporting and contributing to the Honor Flight for Veterans.

Don’t forget our veterans on Veterans Day!  We will be collecting donations for the Honor Flight with the hopes of matching the generous $500 donation.

Bring your own lunch and/or a dish to share and your drink and chair.  It will be a casual afternoon of fun and friendship with pickleball, jenga, and corn hole. Wear your red, white, and blue.

Mari’s  Update 10-07-2017

Good morning All.

It is hard to run any kind of an organization without the help and support of others! We currently have a couple shy of 450 total members and many of you answer the call for help when we need it.

Now we have a great need for a few specialized positions that are ongoing. The list of “Job openings” are done by one or two people and we now need to spread the workload to a few others. Please review the “Openings” below and drop us an email if you can help with these functions. We only need a couple hours per month of your time. Some computer knowledge will be necessary.

I am looking for three very special individuals to be part of our team. The three positions are membership, tee shirts and Sign Up Genius. Here is an outline of each

Membership: you get to know the members by inputting them into a very easy to use computer program. Just fill in the spaces, Name, address, telephone etc. You get the idea. It doesn’t take a lot of time. And some weeks especially doing the summer, you can go weeks and not enter anything at all.

Sign Up Genius – one of my all time favorite jobs. A very easy to follow program to create those announcements for parties. Time requirement is minimal, maybe an hour or two a month. Mona?

Tee shirts – you get to have input on design with Ken, and you are responsible distribution of the Tee Shirts. It’s a one time a year as a commitment.

I will do training so you feel very comfortable and I will always support you if you need me.

 Please response back to vbpickle@gmail.com

 Thanks all,

Mari

What’s Going On At IG:

IGC is back at it after renovations and Hurricane Irma. They have given us some indications that they are looking to add Pickleball at additional times. We are to meet with them to discuss their desires and our needs. We will keep you posted on and changes/additions at IGC.

Social events – Our next off court event is scheduled for Friday, Sept 29th at Vero Beach’s DOWNTOWN FRIDAY. This is a Street party from 6-9PM and we have been invited to do a Pickleball Demo behind the stage. The event happens on 14th Avenue south to Rt 60. They have food, Drinks and great music by The Jacks Band. And yes you can dance. We need someone to help coordinate the court set up and volunteers to play PB and talk to viewers and give them some narrative of what pickleball is all about. If you would like to participate in the demo and setup please reply to play@pickleu.com. The demo should only last until about 7PM due to light (or lack of).
